Tom Cruise

Tom Cruise is an American actor. He was born on July 3rd., 1962 in Syracuse, New York with the full name of Thomas Cruise Mapother IV. As a youngster his family moved around relentlessly and Tom attended 15 different schools. Always religious, he was originally a seminary student (for one year at age 14), and planned on becoming a priest. When he discovered acting, which he took up after suffering a wrestling injury, he decided to give up the priesthood, and instead focus on becoming the next great thespian.

Cruise graduated from Glen Ridge High School in New Jersey in 1980.

Once Cruise decided on a course of action, he didn't waste time. He dropped out of school when he was 18 and headed to New York City to begin an acting career. By 1981, he had landed his first role, in 1981's "Endless Love." [1]

Personal Life

Tom Cruise is married to Katie Holmes and is the father of Suri Cruise.

He was married and divorced from two other Hollywood actresses, Mimi Rogers, and Nicole Kidman. He has two adopted children with Kidman, Isabella and Connor.[2]

Acting Career

Tom Cruise is one of the biggest box office stars in Hollywood history. He earned $70 million alone in 1996 for "Mission Impossible" and earned $75 million more for the sequel "Mission Impossible II" in 2000.

Trivia

  • Tom Cruise lived with Penelope Cruz from 2001 to 2004, after they co-starred in "Vanilla Sky."[1]
