Biography

Matthew David McConaughey is a well known actor with a reputation for keeping in spectacular shape. He was born on November 4, 1969 in Uvalde, Texas. He has 2 older brothers.[1] He went to University of Texas at Austin and studied Film. <p>Matthew is fond of the outdoors and enjoys spending most of his time with his shirt off at a beach. He even scrapped the idea of living in a big home to reside in his Airstream Trailer at the beach.

Personal Life

McConaughey was romantically involved with Penelope Cruz, whom he met on the set of "Sahara", but the couple parted ways amicably in 2006.[9]

On January 15, 2008, Matthew McConaughey announced that he was expecting his first child with his girlfriend, Camila Alves.[6]

Career

Matthew McConaughey first appearance was in Richard Linklater's Dazed And Confused in 1993. He played the part of David Wooderson, a hippie type that still was involved with high school students despite his age. His most quotable quote from this movie was: That's what I love about these high school girls, man. I get older, they stay the same age. [2] This film was directed by Richard Linklater.

Since his movie debut, he has appeared numerous times in films and TV shows, many times playing the role of himself. Other movies he starred in include:

  • We Are Marshall - 2006.[5] Based on the true story of Marshall University's football team. A story of heartbreak, triumph and the strength of the human spirit.
  • Sahara - 2005.[4] This movie is set in the Sahara Desert and also stars Penelope Cruz and Steve Zahn.

Matthew McConaughey was named as a presenter at the 2008 Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards Show, taking place on January 27, 2008. Other presenters include Burt Reynolds, Denis Leary, Kate Hudson and Zac Efron. SAG will be awarding the 44th Guild life achievement award to Charles Durning.[7]
