Biography
Angelina Jolie is an American actress, and is one half of the Hollywood Power Couple of Brangelina along with lover Brad Pitt. She was born on June 4th., 1975 with the full name of Angelina Jolie Voight.(1) Her father is famed Hollywood actor Jon Voight and her mother was Marcheline Bertrand, whom she was very close to. The couple divorced when Angelina was a small child. Her mother died of cancer in 2007.[3] Jolie credits her lover Brad Pitt with helping her cope with the loss of her mother. "Brad sat with me and held her hand," she said at the time. "After, he spent the night asking me and my brother about our mum and got us to tell funny stories about her."
Jolie took early training in acting at the Lee Strasberg Institute, taking after her mother, who had also been a student at the famed institute.
Jolie was essentially estranged from her father, Jon Voight, and credits her mother, who was also an actress, with kindling her interest in acting by taking her to movies. Voight and Jolie have always had a rocky relationship, and on September 12th., 2002 she officially changed her name to "Angelina Jolie."[2] Despite their estrangement, the two appear alongside each other in 2001's "Lara Croft: Tomb Raider."

Angelina Jolie is well known as a "Goodwill Ambassador" due to public projects she has concentrated on in the last several years. Her relationship with Brad Pitt has recast her role from Hollywood vixen and apparent home-wrecker to that of a mother who is primarily concerned with charitable causes. She is a proponent of adoption, and has adopted three children of her own.
During the filming of "Mr. and Mrs. Smith", a story about married assassins who try to kill each other, Jolie and Pitt became romantically involved. At the time Pitt was married to Jennifer Aniston, and the relationship cast Jolie in a poor light. As Pitt and her have progressed in their careers as Goodwill Ambassadors and have extended their family, the public has shown more approval of their relationship.
Pitt and Jolie have one biological child together, Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt, who was born May 27th., 2006 in Namibia. The child can apply for Namibian residency, if she chooses. "Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt will, according to Namibian law, be allowed to obtain Namibian citizenship, if the parents should choose to do so."[6]
Professional Career
Jolie made her screen acting debut in 1982, by co-starring in the movie "Lookin' to Get Out" with her father Jon Voight. (2) She did not begin an acting career in earnest at this point. It was nearly a decade before she acted again, this time in "Cyborg 2" in 1993.
Jolie, despite her slight frame, is best known for being an action hero.
